SIKESTON -- Two Southeast Missouri State Parks are Midwest "treasures" for travelers.

Featured in the November/December 2011 issue of AAA Midwest Traveler, Big Oak Tree State Park and Towosahgy State Historic Site near East Prairie were selected as a Midwestern treasure for their appeal to typical AAA members.

"We're pleased to get the recognition, and it's an honor," said Michael Comer, site administrator for Big Oak and Towosahgy. "I think the two places are deserving of the designation. ... Hopefully, tourists will come down and see what we've got."
