PORTAGEVILLE -- Gene H. Goodman, 81, died Nov. 17, 2011, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti.
Born Nov. 8, 1930, in Pocahontas, Ark., son of the late Herman and Fardial Johnson Goodman, he retired from the EBG Corporation as a heavy equipment operator and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Nov. 24, 1978, in Hayward, he married Rebecca Durbin who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Michael Goodman of Dothan , Ala., and Bradley Lance Goodman of Portageville; one daughter; Rebecca M. Ellis of Portageville; one sister, Aldus Rose of Pocahontas; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death in addition to his parents, were one son, Derik Eugene Goodman, on Sept. 9, 1997, three brothers Howard Goodman, Raymon Goodman and Herman Goodman, and two sisters, Ivern O'Neal and Pat Martin.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with the Rev. Dewayne Roberts officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
