CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Red Devils are coming off of their best season in recent memory that ended with a 15-13 record before losing to Advance in the district semifinals.

Gone from last year's squad is Michael Rutherford and Jason Cicardi but plenty of experience returns for the Red Devils, leaving expectations high.

"We lost our two best defensive players from last year so we really have to improve on defense as a team to be successful this year," said Chaffee coach Josh Govreau. "This is the most athletic team I have had in my four years as a head coach at Chaffee. I think we will be able to get up and down the floor very well."

Returning for Chaffee are seniors Alex Crowe (5-11), Jordan Yahn (6-2), Alex Davie (5-10) and Zach Dannenmueller (6-0). They will be joined by newcomers Layton Tenkhoff (6-1, so.), Charlie Montgomery (6-0, so.), Peyton Montgomery 5-10, fr.) and Cody Johnson (5-9, jr.).

"We have a lot of experience with this senior class," Govreau said. "Crowe and Yahn have been full-time varsity players since their sophomore year and the others have all seen a lot of time at the varsity level.

"We have some very talented underclassmen that I think will really help us be successful."
