Air Force Staff Sgt. Jed Payne of Sikeston spent from September 2010 to February 2011 in Afghanistan working with unmanned aerial vehicles or Predators. During some of the missions soldiers would place American flags in the crafts prior to their flying over the country. Payne brought two of the flags back to Sikeston Tuesday, presenting one to the city of Sikeston and a second flag to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3174. Payne also brought a photo of the Predator which flew the flags. Payne, left, explains to Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Teachout and City Manager Doug Friend how the flags were placed in the vehicles.
