BERNIE -- Pat Cross, 83, died Dec. 25, 2011, at his home in Bernie.

Born Sept. 8, 1928, in Bernie, son of the late James Thomas and Viola Gann Cross, he lived most of his life in Bernie. He and his family lived for 20 years in Chicago where he worked for Meyers Material. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Christian Church in Bernie.

In 1951, he married Rose Marie Kubisch, and she preceded him in death in 1970.

Survivors include: two daughters, Deborah Martin of Killeen, Texas, and Pamela Cross of Nash Port, Ohio; one sister, Emma Jean James of Bernie; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with John Adams of Dexter officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in the Bernie Cemetery at Bernie.
