EWP fund deadlines are fast approaching

$1.203 million is alloted for projects

CHARLESTON -- Area surveyors are likely to be very busy for the rest of the month.

Extra seating was brought in during the regular Mississippi County Commission meeting Thursday to accommodate farmers, landowners and drainage district officials seeking information on the latest round of Emergency Watershed Protection program funding.

On Jan. 20, a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that EWP funds would again be available, according to Darin Gant, district conservationist for the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service office at Benton.
