DEXTER -- Billy R. Hayes, 77, died Feb. 10, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 2, 1935, at Dudley, to the late James L. and Floss M. Hunt Hayes, he was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ and a retired veteran of the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 9, 1957, at Essex, he married Shirley Frazier who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Billy R. Hayes Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Sheena R. Remeta and Donna K. Martin of Colorado Springs; two brothers, Paul D. Hayes of Essex and Delbert L. Hayes of Dexter; two sisters, Wanda L. Hill of Dexter and Imo F. Miller of Arnold; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Michael Eugene Hayes, and one brother Jimmy C. Hayes.
Memorial services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Dexter.
Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
