Melinda Larkins

EAST PRAIRIE -- Melinda Carol Larkins, 47, died Feb. 12, 2012, near East Prairie.

Born Feb. 4, 1965, in Cairo, Ill., to Elise Hardin Kemp of East Prairie and the late Dee Bernell Kemp, she lived in East Prairie her entire life and attended the Elm Street Baptist Church.

On Dec. 14, 1983, she married Kenny Larkins who preceded in death on Aug. 18, 1999.

One son, Justin Larkins; and one sister, Debbie Vetter, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Tyler Larkins of East Prairie; one daughter, Anna Larkins of East Prairie; two stepsons, Dacy Larkins of Paducah, Ky., and Michael Larkins of Murray, Ky.; one brother, Mike Kemp of East Prairie; one sister, Cheryl Abner of Blodgett; and one granddaughter.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday with Jon Archie officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
