TUPELO, Miss. -- Mr. Paul Calvin Jarrell, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1928, in Chesapeake, W.Va., to the late Robert and Ina Rae Jordan Jarrell.
Paul worked in the aluminum industry serving in various management positions. For nine years, he served as a United Methodist pastor to several rural churches in the coal mining areas of West Virginia. He considered his biggest achievement in life to be his marriage to his grade school sweetheart, Margaret Lavender. After eloping, they spent 64 years together. He will best be remembered for his unfailing love to his wife and family and for always serving their needs.
A memorial service celebrating Paul's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors.
Visitation is scheduled prior to service time from 1-2:45 p.m.
His survivors include: his wife, Margaret Jarrell of Tupelo; one son, Greg Jarrell and wife Donna of Tupelo; one daughter, Deanna Ginther of Sikeston, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Clay Jarrell and his wife Ashley, Mary Claire Jarrell, Lacey Carroll, Lindy Carroll, John Christopher Ginther and wife Joanne, Matt Ginther and wife Kristin and Todd Ginther and wife Deanna. Great-grandchildren include Caitlin Ginther, Jacqueline Ginther, Jack Ginther, Jaydn Ginther and Jaren Calvin Ginther.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Paul Calvin Jarrell Jr., two brothers, Herbert Jarrell and Averille Jarrell, and one sister, Priscilla Jarrell.
