Henry Brands

PORTAGEVILLE -- Henry Brands, 88, died Feb. 22, 2012, at his home.

Born April 2, 1923, in Portageville, to the late Theodore and

Sena Elfrink Brands Sr., he was a lifelong member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church. He farmed for many years, served on the board of Farmers Bank and was on the Farm Service Agency Board for 20 years with Drainage District No. 29 for 30 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He married on Aug. 5, 1947. Hs wife, Irene Brands, preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 2004.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Brands and Theodore "T" Brands Jr., and four sisters, Jane Priggel, Florence Elizabeth Brands, Nora Scherer and Florence Scherer.

Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Rita Brands, Michael and Sheila Brands and Mark and Karen Brands of Portageville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gene Mallett of South Haven, Miss., and Becky and Kevin Scott of Bartlett, Tenn.; one sister, Lucy Savat of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Herman Brands of Portageville; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled at 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home. Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Eustachius Catholic Church with the Rev. Allan Sanders officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
