MINER -- Parents, healthcare providers, social service agency representatives and government officials gathered to learn more about the federal health care reform during a community meeting Wednesday at the Miner Convention Center.

"Our main purpose of this meeting is to increase awareness and provide education for members of our community," said Cynthia Dean, chief executive officer of Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium, which sponsored the informational meeting.

The main topic was the Affordable Care Act, which requires many insurance plans to provide coverage without cost sharing to enrollees for a variety of preventive health services.
