SIKESTON -- Lloyd Barton "Beans'"Evans, 89, died March 20, 2012, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 15, 1923, in Sikeston, to the late Lloyd Wilson and Lucy Culbertson Evans, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and had worked as a truck driver for Valley Steel before retiring.

On July 9, 1949, at Charleston, he married Paula Gay Bess who preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2008.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Merry Gay and Muriel E. Lape of Sikeston; two sisters, Shirley Tetley and Mildred Baker of Sikeston; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. David B. Ross, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at noon in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
