BLOOMFIELD -- Floyd Allen, 96, died March 20, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield.
Born Oct. 3, 1915, in Shelby County, Ill., to the late Jack and Bessie Harlow Allen, he had grown up in Pana, Ill., and moved to the Aid community in 1959. He had worked raising chickens for the Swift Chicken Co. in Dexter before his retirement. He was of the Protestant belief.
On Oct. 17, 1957, he married Rosa May Shelton who survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Kenny Allen of Portland, Ore., Donnie Allen of Pana, Thomas W. Morrison of Zalma and James E. Morrison of Arnold; one brother, Lee Allen of Salem, Ill.; one sister, Norma Akins of Pana; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Allen, and six sisters, Helen Bland, Alta Mae Jarrett, Viola Moneyhun, Velma Bland, Alberta Jenkins and Charolette Haines.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Dale Holman of Advance officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
