BENTON -- Scott County Commissioners hope to see the courthouse roof ready by the building's centennial celebration.
A pre-bid meeting for roofers interested in reconstruction of the roof on the north wing of the courthouse was held during the Commission's regular meeting Tuesday.
Bids will be opened March 27. As the pre-bid meeting was a requirement, only the two vendors who attended Tuesday's meeting will be eligible for the contract: Pyramid Roofing of Sikeston and Drury Company of Cape Girardeau.
"Whoever gets the bid we will work closely with to make sure it gets to where it needs to be," said Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger. "We just want to keep the water out of the courthouse."
The contract requires the project to be completed 45 days after the bid is awarded.
