Chaffee rallies past Risco; SCC wins
CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Red Devils used a seventh inning rally to defeat Risco 8-2 on Thursday.
Weather forced the game to be moved from Risco, but the Tigers batted as the home team and tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
However in the top of the seventh, with two outs, the Red Devils exploded for six runs and put the game out of reach.
"The bottom of our lineup really came through for us and set the stage for our rally in the seventh," said Chaffee coach Brian Horrell. "That was good to see."
The six runs were more than enough as Chaffee hurler Cody Payne finished off a complete game in the bottom of the inning to seal the win. Payne allowed just two runs on eight hits while striking out seven and walking just one.
Payne was also 2 for 4 at the plate while Daniel Dooley was 2 for 3 and Layton Tenkhoff was 2 for 4.
Chris Pavy was 3 for 4 to lead Risco while Jordon Pavy was 2 for 4.
