Superintendent at Scott County Central recognized for work

SIKESTON -- A Lilbourn native was recognized by his peers for outstanding performance as a new superintendent.

Alvin McFerren, superintendent of the Scott County Central School District, is among eight Missouri superintendents -- and the only one in the Southeast District -- to receive the Outstanding New Superintendent award by the Missouri Association of School Administrators.

"I'm excited about getting this award," said McFerren, whose first school year as a superintendent with the district was in 2009-2010.
