PUXICO -- James Thomas Woods, 70, died April 4, 2012, at his home.

Born Sept. 17, 1941, in Shaw, Miss., son of the late J.T. and Virginia Wright Woods, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a pastor and a farmer.

In December 1967, in Cleveland, Miss., he married Lucye Brantley who survives of the home.

Also surviving are: three sons, Joseph Thomas Woods of the state of Mississippi, James C. Woods of Puxico and John Earl Woods of Red Rock, Okla.; one daughter, Michelle K. Pipkin of Pocahontas, Tenn.; one brother, Wesley Woods; one sister, Sue Vasser of Horn Lake, Miss.; and four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great stepgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Earl Woods, and by one sister, Doris Greenhaw.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Puxico. The Rev. Bill Garrett will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
