Dexter man dies in Sunday night fire

DEXTER - The victim of a Sunday house fire has been identified.

Dexter Fire Chief Don Seymore said Michael Henley, 44, was found dead at his home after the fire department responded to a fire at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

Seymore said the fire marshal listed the blaze as accidental and as the result of "smoking in bed."

Seymore said he and his Department and were called to the scene around 8 p.m. Mathis pronounced the victim dead at 8:41 p.m.

Also responding to the scene, according to Mathis, were the Dexter Police Department, Stoddard County Ambulance Department and the State Fire Marshal's office.
