Miner officials will appeal new FEMA flood plain maps
Tuesday, April 10, 2012
MINER -- Miner city officials will explore options to appeal the Federal Emergency Management Agency's new flood plain maps before adopting them.
A decision on adopting the new flood plain maps was tabled during the regular monthly Board of Aldermen meeting held Monday.
City officials and residents are not happy with the maps as they have put areas of the city that have never flooded into flood plains, Mayor Frank Tatum said.
Tatum said he will contact Rep. Jo Ann Emerson about the maps and see if she would "try to do something about it."
