Sikeston DPS testing new warning sirens
SIKESTON - With the installation of the two new public warning devices, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety is conducting extensive testing to ensure they are programmed correctly.
According to Lt. Jim McMillen, public information officer with DPS, over the next several days, the public will likely hear these sirens being tested a number of times.
"This testing will only be done in the absence of severe weather," McMillen said in a news release. "We don't want there to be any confusion during this testing and we ask the members of our community to bear with us during this programming phase. We also ask that you don't contact our emergency 911 lines during this phase, remembering that this is only a test."
