EAST PRAIRIE -- Barbara Ione Jackson Organ passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

On April 27, 1936, at Perkins, Barbara was born to the late Joe Louis and Effie Mae Morgan Jackson. She lived her entire life in Mississippi County.

On June 13, 1954, Barbara married the love of her life, Louie Linson "Red" Organ. They were both members of the First Church of God in East Prairie and loved their Fellowship Sunday School Class immensely. Mr. Organ preceded her in death on May 9, 2008.

She was also preceded in death by a beloved brother, Terry Jackson Sr.

Barbara is survived by: her two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and David Detring of Farmington and Toni and David Stricklin of Paducah, Ky.

She was "Meem" to five wonderful grandchildren who brightened her world: Jason Detring of Tulsa, Okla., Tyler Detring of Farmington, Michael Stricklin, Allison Stricklin and Andrew Stricklin of Paducah; and one chosen grandson, David Woodford of Paducah.

She is also survived by her siblings, Janice Webb, Marjorie Blythe, Chuck Jackson; many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family;

Mrs. Organ was a loved and respected teacher in the East Prairie R-II School District for 26 years. She loved learning and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed decorating her home and making quilts. In the spring and summer, she could be found working in her yard where beautiful peonies, iris and daylilies abounded.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with Larry Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers include her nephews, Terry Jackson Jr., Steve Jackson, Mike Ray, Bobby Burnes, Randy Hardesty, Jimmy Hardesty and Derek Hardesty.

Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday school class members.
