SHS earns 5-2 road victory
HARRISBURG, Ill. -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs offense is starting to come around.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Harrisburg, Ill., 5-2 on Wednesday night behind a three-goal effort by Madison Chaney.
"We're a very young team and I knew it would take a while for us to find our identity on offense," Sikeston head coach Doyle Noe said. "We're playing with more confidence and I think we took a big step in the right direction today."
Sikeston (2-5) took a commanding 4-0 lead by halftime.
Chaney wasted no time giving the Lady Bulldogs an early advantage pushing her first goal in just five minutes into the contest.
Kamryn Wilcox made it 2-0 just minutes later while Monica Carter put the Lady Bulldogs up by three with the assist coming from Kathryn Inman.
In the 38th minute, Chaney scored another goal giving Sikeston the big lead.
"She was able to score one early, but they started keying on Madison after that," Noe said. "(Chaney) was able to open things up for other girls after that and she created things away from the ball that allowed others to score. Great work up front from our girls tonight."
The junior varsity Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-3 on the season after defeating Harrisburg 1-0 on Wednesday.
Kira Rainwater punched in the only goal of the game.
