Oran loses heartbreaker at ND Showcase

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Oran Eagles baseball team went lost both of their games over the weekend during the Notre Dame Showcase at Notre Dame High School.

Oran (11-4) lost the showcase's finale 5-0 to the host, Notre Dame Bulldogs.

Dalton Elfrink took the loss giving up eight hits.

Notre Dame's Cody Heisserer limited the Eagles to just two hits in his complete game effort. He also struck out nine.

Before their falter to Notre Dame, Oran lost a heartbreaker to Helias, 11-10 in nine innings.

Kody Moore led the Eagles, who held two different six run leads over the Crusaders, with three hits including a double, a triple and four RBI. Elfrink and Seth Ressel each had two hits apiece.

Helias scored a run in the seventh inning to keep things going. They ended it in walkoff fashion in the bottom of the ninth.

Chance Tenkhoff took the loss on the mound.

Oran will host Woodland on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
