CHARLESTON -- Deborah Jean Patton, 57, died May 1, 2012, at her mother's home in Charleston.

Born Oct. 13, 1954, at Russellville, Ark., to Pauline Sugg Patton, who survives of Charleston, and the late Raymond Glenn Patton Sr., she was a 1973 graduate of Charleston High School. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and later earned a masters degree in elementary reading. She taught for 32 years at the Warren E. Hearnes Elementary in Charleston until her retirement. She was a member of the Community Teachers Association and the Missouri State Teachers Association. She lived in Charleston all of her life, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, survivors include: one brother, Raymond Patton of Sikeston; one sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Roy Presson of rural Charleston; two nieces, Amanda Martin of rural Charleston and Catherine Presson of Fenton.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
