SIKESTON -- Robert Joseph "Bob" Lambert Sr., 84, died May 1, 2012, in Fayetteville, Ark.

He was born April 24, 1928, to Robert David and Ruby Shaver Lambert in Sikeston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Estelle Murphy Lambert, to whom he was married 54 years; and his brother, Randal Lambert.

Upon graduation from Sikeston High School, he enlisted in the United States Marines serving stateside and abroad, then returned to Sikeston to begin his career with the United States Postal Service. He never called any place home except Sikeston and greatly valued his roots there and his lifelong friends.

Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, spending time in service to others. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed traveling, reading, following sports, spending time with family, volunteering at the V.F.W. and meeting friends for dinner on Friday nights.

Survivors include: two sons, Robert Joseph Lambert Jr. and his wife, Carlena, of Springdale, Ark., and Michael Murphy Lambert of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Sarah Boyce Lambert Collier and her husband William Stuart Collier of Fayetteville and Robert Joseph Lambert III and his wife Candice Fudge Lambert of Lowell, Ark. and two great-grandchildren, Presley Franklin Collier and Estelle Ruby Collier of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, 1120 North Main, in Sikeston.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
