Two programs at Mississippi County Juvenile Detention Center to get funds
CHARLESTON -- It appears as if two successful programs at the Mississippi County Juvenile Detention Center will get the funding to continue for at least another year.
In April, county officials received notification from the Missouri Department of Public Safety that the Title II grants which fund the Girls Circle and Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative programs at the facility are eligible for renewal and will not have to compete against other facilities for the funding.
"It's not official yet," Kevin Hess, superintendent of the Mississippi County Juvenile Detention Center, said about the grant renewals.
Hess said he attended the annual pre-bid conference for Title II and Title V grant programs April 19 at the Secretary of State's office in Jefferson City and hopes to get confirmation of the funding Sept. 1.
