ESSEX -- Jesse James Getter Sr., 64, died May 12, 2012, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born Nov. 23, 1947, in Marvel, Ark., to the late Leonard Mann and Ollie Mae Jones Getter, he had lived in Alton and East St. Louis, Ill., before moving to Essex in 2008. A member of the Mt. Zion Church at Gray Ridge, he was a retired machinist and had worked at an aluminum plant.
On Dec. 3, 2008, in Belleville, Ill., he married Essie Johnson who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jesse James Getter Jr. of Elkhart, Ind., and Leonard James Getter of South Bend, Ind.; one daughter, Eunice Jones of Dothan, Ala.; three brothers, Robert Jones and Billy Joe Getter of Malden and Lee Dale Johnson of Parma; one sister, Alice Ann Yvonne Evans of Parma; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Ida Whittaker.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Ronnie Mack of Mounds, Ill., will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
