Miles Reece Jr.

SIKESTON -- Miles C. Reece Jr., 89, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died at 9 a.m. May 21, 2012, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Sept. 24, 1922, in Falls City, Neb., to the late Miles Canter Reece Sr., and Emma Katherine Strunk Reece, he was the regional sales manager for Redball Transportation and a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II.

On Jan. 3, 1953, in Raton, N.M., he married Mary Elizabeth "Jerrie" Merritt, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Miles C and Julie Reece III of Sikeston; and one grandson and his wife, William and Christina Reece of Drexel, Mo.

He was preceded in death by one son, William "Bill" Reece, four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services with full military honors were conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. The Rev. Dewayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church, officiated.

Blanchard Funeral Chapel of Sikeston was in charge of arrangements.
