Shirley Dixon

WASHINGTON, Ill. -- Shirley Jean Dixon, 64, of Washington, Ill., passed away at 8:18 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Dec. 23, 1947, in Sikeston, Mo., to the late Everett W. and Nola Mae Hampton Hays Sr., Shirley worked in housekeeping for 23 years at Washington Christian Village, retiring in 2004. She enjoyed bowling, drawing and paint by numbers. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

On May 28, 1966, in Sikeston. she married William G. Dixon who survives.

Also surviving are: two children, Barbie Jean (James) Dixon-Coon of Farmington and Greg Dixon of Chillicothe; five grandchildren, Carolyn Tucker, Kayla Coon, Thomas Hale, Grace Hale and Emily Hale; four brothers, Everett Hays Jr., Dennis (Sheila) Hays, Mike (Sissy) Hays, and Steven (Frannie) Hays; and one sister, Mary Jane (Gene) Stroud.

Visitation is scheduled from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Fred D. Albanito, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
