Employees of Ozark Applicators of VanBuren are giving the Sikeston water tower on Center Street a fresh coat of paint. After sandblasting the approximately 110-foot tower, workers were spot priming Wednesday with painting to begin today. During the painting, which should be completed this weekend, Center Street between North Ranney and North Prairie streets is closed to traffic. Working on the tower are Derek Hampton, Tony Towner, Matt Crafton and Chris Gore while down below Mark Crawford stayed busy trying to cover vehicles in case the wind caused paint splatters. This is the second of three water towers in town which are getting a fresh coat of paint.
