BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Leola McMikle Roach, 82, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died May 20, 2012, at the Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 11, 1930, in East Prairie, to the late Joseph Bernie and Sally Katherine Black McMikle, she was a graduate of East Prairie High School and attended Southeast Missouri Teachers College where she received certification to teach school. She and her husband moved around the country for his work until 1966 when they settled in Indianapolis, living there until 1998 when they moved to Bloomington where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
On Aug. 20, 1949, she married James Lee Roach who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Byron Lee Roach, two brothers, Billy McMikle and Willard J. McMikle, and one sister, Eldoris Daniel.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, James Bernie and Jenny Roach and Bruce and Tracy Roach of Indianapolis; one brother and sister-in-law, Elgin and Sue McMikle of Charleston, Mo.; one sister, Margariete Shibley of Piperton, Tenn.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate. Her niece, Amelia Ann Shibley Whigham, will serve as eulogist.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: James Harrison Roach, James Mitchell, Stan McMikle, Lewis Jon McMikle, Ron Priday and Richard Galemore.
