Flag football
SIKESTON -- Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading are now taking registrations at Miner Baptist Church. The deadline for registration is Aug. 27 while early registration is before Aug. 9 to receive discounted registration costs. Girls and boys evaluations are Aug. 9 between 3:30-7 p.m. and Aug. 11 between 9 a.m. to noon on the fields at Miner Baptist Church. Girls have the option of playing flag football or cheerleading. SHS tennis
SIKESTON -- The Sikeston High School Lady Bulldogs' girls tennis team will begin practice on Aug. 6 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Sikeston High School tennis courts. All players must have physical and insurance forms turned in prior to practicing. For more information contact coach Dial at 380-9883.
First Tee

'Full Course' Classic
CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The "Full Course" Golf Classic will be held on Aug. 6 at the Dalhousie Golf Club. The four-person scramble will be $125 per person with proceeds benefiting the Southeast Missouri Food Bank. Lunch and registration will begin at noon with a 1 p.m. tee time. Celebrity tourney
SIKESTON -- A Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held on Aug. 10 at the Bootheel Golf Club. Each team will consist of a three-man scramble and a rodeo celebrity and the fee will be $150 per team with money benefiting the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. 2 Mile run/walk
SIKESTON -- A Steps for Youth Justice 2-mile run/walk will be held on Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. at the Sikeston Sports Complex. The race, which features a flat and fast course, will be chip timed and spectator friendly. Awards will be presented to the top male, female and Top 3 in each division. Divisions include 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-plus. Race day registration is 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at Pavilion 2. 4 Mile run/walk
JACKSON -- A 4-mile run/walk 4 Youth Justice and a 1/4 Mile Youth Justice Jog will be held on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. at Pavilion 1 at the Jackson City Park in Jackson. Four mile awards will be presented to the overall male, female and Top 3 in each divisions. Divisions include 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-plus. 1/4 mile awards will be presented to the Top 2 in each division which are five and under, 6-8 and 9-12. Each division is separated by gender. The 1/4 mile race will begin at 5 p.m. Both races are chip timed. Register by Sept. 14 to guarantee a shirt. Rams opener
ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams are offering a ticket promotion to their 2012 home opener that will benefit the state's fire fighters. The $45 ticket package for the Sept. 16, 3:05 p.m. kickoff against the Washington Redskins, includes one terrace level ticket and a Rams/Heroes t-shirt. Those who wear their t-shirts will also receive 50 percent off at select concession stands (alcohol not included) during the game. The Fire Fighters Association of Missouri will receive $10 from each ticket package sold. The organization will present the national colors before the game. Coed volleyball
