BLOOMFIELD -- Calvin McRoy, 87, died Aug. 1, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield. BLOOMFIELD -- Calvin McRoy, 87, died Aug. 1, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield.

Born Feb. 25, 1925, in Bloomfield, to the late Harvey Jackson and Martha Jennings McRoy, he lived in Bloomfield all of his life. He attended the General Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany during World War II. He had been a truck driver with Cassens Transport.

On Oct. 4, 1947, at Piggott, Ark., he married Mildred Bowling who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Gene McRoy of Bloomfield and Jim McRoy of Farmington; two daughters, Sue Hampton of Bloomfield and Mary Jines of Centralia; two sisters, Geraldine Harris of Bloomfield and Vivian Patterson of Dexter; two brothers, Ronnie McRoy of Bloomfield and Don McRoy of Alton, Ill.; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Eileen Crowe, Velma Kingree, Wilma Handley and Virginia Hendrix, and two brothers, Alvin Sonny McRoy and H.M. McRoy.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Dwight Hensley of Bloomfield officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
