SIKESTON -- Henry L. "Hank" Cook, 83, of Sikeston died Aug. 12, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Hank was born May 28, 1929, in Peoria, Ill., to the late Karl and Rosa Miller Kreiter. He was preceded in death by the loving parents who raised him, Alva and Mildred Shook Cook; one daughter, Virginia Cook; four sisters, Lena, Alma, Dorothy and Caroline; and four brothers, Charles, Rupert, William and Frank...

SIKESTON -- Henry L. "Hank" Cook, 83, of Sikeston died Aug. 12, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Hank was born May 28, 1929, in Peoria, Ill., to the late Karl and Rosa Miller Kreiter. He was preceded in death by the loving parents who raised him, Alva and Mildred Shook Cook; one daughter, Virginia Cook; four sisters, Lena, Alma, Dorothy and Caroline; and four brothers, Charles, Rupert, William and Frank.

He retired from the United States Air Force as a radar technician after 22 years of service and he also retired from Anaconda Aluminum and Noranda Aluminum. Hank worked at the Sikeston Power Plant as well. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Peoria and the Shriners in Missoula, Mont.

Hank was married for 51 years to Betty Gaedchens of Biloxi, Miss., who survives of the home. They married Dec. 23, 1960, in Biloxi.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Karen Ragsdell of Sikeston and Catherine Cook of Ohio; one son, Alva Cook; two grandchildren, Michael Ragsdell of Sikeston and Megan Ragsdell-Sloat of Sikeston; one great-grandson, Robert Ragsdell-Sloat of Sikeston; one brother, Clarence Kreiter of Peoria; four sisters, Helen Carlson of Peoria, Clara Reiger of East Peoria, Frances Gunnels of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Joy Anderson of Downington, Pa; and many nieces and nephews including one favorite niece, Susan Seymour of Biloxi.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until time of services scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 15, 2012, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Brian Jenkerson from the First Church of The Nazarene in Sikeston will officiate.

A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Wilson Family Cemetery in Laure, Miss., with the Rev. Robert E. Wall officiating.
