SIKESTON -- For Nona Robinson of Dexter and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Lucy Thornton, participating in the annual charity walk for the Kenny Rogers Children's Center is more about the symbolism of the walk than crossing the finish line.

"Nobody's running," Robinson said of the 1.6-mile walk. "It's a journey -- not a race."

The 39th Annual Kenny Rogers Children's Center Charity Walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at the First Assembly of God Recreational Complex in Sikeston.
