JACKSON -- James "Jim" Thomas, 67, died Oct. 18, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 22, 1944, in Chaffee, to the late Earl James and Mary Catherine Kiefer Thomas, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam War. He retired as a mechanic from Procter and Gamble in Cape Girardeau, was a lifetime member of Cape Girardeau V.F.W. Post 3838 and Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge 639 and of the Catholic belief.
On Sept. 14, 1984, he married Betty Place, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Steve Thomas of Chaffee and Robert Thomas of St. Charles; and one sister, Diana Tankersley of Jefferson City.
Services were conducted today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating.
Burial with full military honors provided by the Missouri Honor Guard followed at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
