Portion of Highway 60 shut down after fuel truck overturns

GRAYRIDGE - A portion Highway 60 was blocked when a truck overturned and spilled fuel on the roadway.

At 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, Joseph W. Odom, 37, of Lynchburg, Va., was driving westbound on Highway 60, a half mile east of Grayridge, when his vehicle ran off the roadway. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Odom's tractor-trailer rig struck a guardrail and came to rest blocking both westbound lanes of the highway.

During the accident, the rig's fuel tanks were ruptured creating a large fuel spill on the roadway, the Patrol reported. Also approximately 30 feet of guardrail was damaged in the incident.
