VIENNA, Ill. -- David W. Blackburn, 53, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Dec. 7, 2012, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion. VIENNA, Ill. -- David W. Blackburn, 53, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Dec. 7, 2012, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion.

Born Jan. 12, 1959, in Sikeston, to the late William Robert Blackburn and Doris Virginia (Redden) Blackburn, he was a 1977 graduate of Sikeston High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Mid-America Nazarene College in Olathe, Kan. He was a nationally registered emergency medical technician/paramedic for over 25 years. He had taught paramedic refresher courses through the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center and more recently had been employed as a paramedic by Medforce E.M.S. in Eldorado. He had been a former member of the Nazarene Church, where he served as an elder. Since moving to Johnson County, he had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna.

On July 31, 2010, in Vienna, he married Angela Marie (Persinger) Large, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: a son, William Robert Blackburn II of Vienna; a stepson, Benjamin Joseph Large of Vienna; and a sister, Joy Blackburn of St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Vienna. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate.
