DEXTER -- William Lee DePriest, 94, died Dec. 16, 2012.

Born Sept. 6, 1918, in Linden, Tenn., son of the late William Nathan and Verna Berry DePriest, he moved his family to Dexter in 1945 when he entered the U.S. Navy in which he served for two years during World War II. He was a retired plumber and a rural water district employee.

On April 25, 1938, he married Mertie Kathryne Moore who preceded him in death May 14, 1959. On Nov. 11, 1960, he married Goldie Watkins who also preceded him in death Jan. 24, 2011.

Also preceding him in death were three brothers, three sisters, two grandsons, two stepsons and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include: a daughter, Vivan Burnsed of Dade City, Fla.; two sons, Ronald DePriest of Derby, Kan., and Darryl DePriest of Fulton; two stepsons, George Watkins Jr. of Bloomfield and Larry Watkins of Dexter; one brother, Glen DePriest of Chattaroy Wash.; one sister, Helen Vaughn of Poplar Bluff; and seven grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 12 great-stepgrandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday. THe Rev. Greg Stevens will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
