Lance Cannon
DEXTER -- Lance Ludell Cannon, 94, died Dec. 17, 2012, at the Cypress Point Nursing Home in Dexter.
Born Dec 24, 1917, in Bassett, Ark., son of the late Frank and Maude Bennett Cannon, he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces serving in the Pacific Theater. He had lived and worked as a farmer and carpenter in Essex since 1946.
On July 20, 1940, he married Clara Irene McClung, who preceded him in death April 12, 1994.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Billy Leon Cannon, and six brothers, Robert Cannon, Odell Cannon, Martin Cannon, Leroy Cannon, Guy Cannon and Pat Cannon.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Malcom and Anna Cannon of Essex; one daughter, Sheila Turner of Pinellas Park, Fla.; two brothers, Sidney Cannon of Memphis, Tenn., and James Cannon of San Antonio; and four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
