PORTAGEVILLE -- Irene Mary Champion, 75, died Dec. 21, 2012, at Portageville.

Born July 25, 1937, in Newfoundland, Canada, daughter of the late William and Agnes King, she was employed for many years at Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corp. as a cook.

On May 5, 1955, in Hernando, Miss., she married George J. Champion, who preceded her in death Feb. 19, 2002.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy King and Davey King; and two sisters, Agnes Trego and Jean Boonell.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, George and Carol Champion of Prattville, Ala.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Agnes and Jerry Hicks of Portageville, Jacqueline and Steve Dooley of Marston and Margaret Goodman of Millbrook, Ala.; one sister, Margaret Cole of London, Canada; and one brother; Winston King of British Columbia, Canada.

Visitation is from noon until service time at 3 p.m. Sunday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. The Rev. David Britt will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
