ST. LOUIS -- The Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team finished in seventh place Friday during the Flyer Holiday Tournament at Lindbergh High School in St. Louis.

Sikeston scored a total of 163 points as a team.

"Kids wrestled very well," Sikeston wrestling coach Chris Lowe said. "This was a tough tournament and we wrestled very tough against some very tough competition. It was a great team effort and everyone contributed. Our goal was to get better every time we wrestle and I think we have done that. We have a great group of young men who want to be successful."

Senior Nick Nichols narrowly missed snatching a gold medal in the 195-pound division.

Nichols, who went 6-1 throughout the tournament, lost by a final score of 7-4 to the No. 1 ranked wrestler in Class 4.

Clay Porter, who also went 6-1, finished third.
