CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Scott County Central did all they could against a taller, more physical Jackson Indian team.

The Indians overpowered Scott Central under the basket leading to an 85-67 loss. The Braves dropped to the fifth place bracket Saturday where they played Oran, who lost to Charleston, at 4 p.m. Jackson advanced to the winner's bracket semifinals where they faced the Charleston Bluejays.

Jackson rushed out to a 6-0 lead

The Braves pushed to tie the game at 13-13 after a made bucket by freshman Jeffrey Porter and eventually took an early lead after a 3-pointer by Jalen Porter to make it 16-15.

Jackson's Karson King answered moments later, however, with an old fashioned 3-point play to put the Indians up for good.

Jackson held a 42-33 lead at the half.

The Braves entered the second half on a bit of a reckless streak.

The ball went straight to the basket trying to draw fouls in the process, but errant shots were the norm as Jackson began to pull away.

The Indians outscored Scott Central 23-13 in the third, seemingly, putting the game away.

Four players scored in double figures for the Braves -- Larandis Banks 18, Jeffrey Porter 13, Tyler Masters 13 and Jaylen Porter 11.

Jackson was led by Blake Reynolds, who scored a game-high 21 points. King added 19 while Brandon Lueders chipped in 14.

Due to the first day postponement, the tournament championship will be played today at 6:30 p.m. The fifth place game will be at 3:30 p.m. Results from the final day will be in Monday's edition of the Standard Democrat.
