SIKESTON -- Billy Eugene "Bill" Lancaster, 83, died Jan. 6, 2013, at Bertrand Retirement Center.

Born March 21, 1929, in Matthews, to the late Otis and Flora Eula Roy Lancaster, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He attended First Church of the Nazarene, was a member of New Madrid Masonic Lodge 429 and worked as a mechanic for United Parcel Service for 28 years before retiring.

On Jan. 11, 1953, he married Altha Lois Yount who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Keith Allen Lancaster of Fallon, Nev.; one daughter, Patricia Ann Britt of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Bob Lancaster of Kerrville, Texas; one sister, Fern Mulvey of Torrance, Calif.; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Lancaster, on Oct. 27, 1983.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ponder Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Bryan Ayers, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
