WEST ALTON -- Joyce Bard Pointer, 69, died at 11:50 p.m. Jan. 17, 2013, in the Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis. Born Feb. 28, 1943, in the Sugartree community in New Madrid County, she was the daughter of the late William Carl and Mary Nell Tyner Bard. WEST ALTON -- Joyce Bard Pointer, 69, died at 11:50 p.m. Jan. 17, 2013, in the Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Feb. 28, 1943, in the Sugartree community in New Madrid County, she was the daughter of the late William Carl and Mary Nell Tyner Bard. After leaving East Prairie. she moved to the St. Louis area where she was employed as a seamstress for a Sporting Goods Co.

Survivors include: three brothers, Billy Bard of East Prairie, Gary Bard of Georgetown, S.C., and Harry Bard of Charleston; and three sisters, Betty Jackson of Anniston, Sharon Dorris of Derby, Kan., and Sandra Pond of Portland, Ore.

Besides her parents, two brothers, James "Huck" and Dennis Bard, and one sister, Joan Murphy, preceded her in death.

A private burial will be held a later date.

The Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
