SIKESTON -- The Sikeston/Bootheel Area United Way has wrapped up another successful campaign.

As of this week, the organization reported it raised just over $112,000 -- 107 percent of its $105,000 goal -- during the 2012 campaign.

"We're just thrilled to death to have had such a good response," said Glenna Shy, executive director of the organization. "I think our continued success just goes to show that we've got some dedicated board members that contact more and more people to give each year."

Chester Cardwell has done a great job leading the campaign over the past two years, said Shy. She noted that Greg Comer has agreed to take the helm for the 2013 campaign, which will roll out later in the year.
