WAPPAPELLO -- Velvadean "Dean" Hendrix, 86, died Feb. 23, 2013, at Westwood Hills Health Care Facility in Poplar Bluff.

Born Dec. 25, 1926, in Zalma, to the late Richard Overton and Lula Jackson Overton Hodge, she was raised in Puxico, spent from 1951 to 1990 in Alton, Ill., and moved to Wappapello in 1990, where she was a member of the Lakeland Assembly of God Church.

On Nov. 2, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., she married Leland Hendrix, who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2011.

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Washington Hodge; her brothers, Benton, Basil, Bazel, Beauford and Richard Overton; a sister, Vernola; a stepsister, Lula Potter; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jenny Hendrix of Apple Valley, Minn.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Paula and Larry Wooldridge of Maryville, Ill., Connie Hendrix and Lula and Michael Larson of Kansas City; two sisters, Vadola Martin of Puxico and (Victoria) Ruth George of Alhambra, Ill.; and six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Arvin Haynes of Wappapello officiating.

Burial will be in the Fagan Cemetery near Puxico.
