CHAFFEE -- Mitchell Shell, 75, died March 2, 2013, at his home.
Born Jan. 5, 1938, in Greenbrier, to the late Virgil C. and Hazel Cooper Shell, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he was an aircraft electrician and barber. He had worked for Southern Bell Telephone Co. and owned and operated a pay telephone route. He was a commercial pilot and retired as a production supervisor at General Motors in Midwest City, Okla. He was a member of the Christian Church in Chaffee and was past exalted ruler of Chaffee Elks Lodge No. 1810.
On Nov. 4, 1968, he married Delores "Dee" Hopkins who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, Mark Shell of Bowling Green, Ky., Steven Shell of Rome, Ga., and Ronald Shell of Scott City; one daughter, Debra Shell of Norman, Okla.; three sisters, Jackie Fowler of Chaffee, Maxine Anderson of Kirkwood and Peggy Morey of Quincy, Ill.; and 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Guard will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
