DEXTER -- Charles Alvin Walker, 86, died March 17, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 9, 1927, in Naylor, to the late Charley and Damie Whitehead Walker, he had lived in Michigan before moving to Dexter. He had worked for Federal Mogal in Malden until his retirement in 1992. DEXTER -- Charles Alvin Walker, 86, died March 17, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 9, 1927, in Naylor, to the late Charley and Damie Whitehead Walker, he had lived in Michigan before moving to Dexter. He had worked for Federal Mogal in Malden until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the White Oak Grove General Baptist Church.

On June 15, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., he married Jessima Riddle who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Charie Kay Mason of Bernie; three grandchildren, Ryan Mason of Paragould, Ark., and Amber Martin and Sean Mason of Dexter; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son Michael Joe Walker, three brothers, Alvie Walker, Bill Walker and Norman Walker, five sisters, Edith Downey, Lela Adams, Lillie Boyle, Nora Keesee and Anna Mae Flippin, and a twin brother and sister in infancy.

Services were conducted today at the White Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Bernie. The Rev. M.C. Moore of Dexter officiated.

Burial followed in the Smith Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter with the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
