SIKESTON -- Local Scouts are looking to increase membership by showcasing an indoor activity boys of all ages enjoy: video gaming.

An enrollment party for Boy Scout Troop 4041 will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday at Myres Vending Party Room located at 221 East Malone.

"We're going to have an evening at Myres Vending to bring new kids in, have a fun night," said Scott Crumpecker, Scoutmaster for Troop 4041. "We're going to play some video games, grab some pizza and soft drinks and let them get acquainted with the boys in our troop."

Crumpecker said they have a good group already.

"We've got 18 registered and probably 10-12 that are really active," he said. "They range in age from 11 to one who is 17 right now."

But there is plenty of room for more.

"I think 30 is a good number," Crumpecker said. "We've got a lot of parental support, too."

Crumpecker said this is the first time his troop has tried this sort of event for recruitment.
